Their ashes, lifted into Angel Wings.

The making

Ashes, gold, and a steady hand.

A small portion of ashes is blended into the paint itself, then laid into the wings feather by feather. What begins as something you can hold in a spoon becomes something luminous enough to live on your wall.

Nothing here is rushed, and nothing is mass-produced — each piece is made start to finish by Mary's own hand.

The artist

My name is Mary Ellen Ionetz.

Nearly ten years ago, God placed a beautiful and meaningful idea on my heart: to create artwork that helps families honor the lives and memories of their Loved Ones.

I create one-of-a-kind memorial artwork by carefully incorporating your Loved One's cremation ashes — including your beloved fur baby's ashes — into the artistic medium and transforming them into beautiful angel wings.

Each piece is created with tremendous care, respect, and attention to detail. My goal is not simply to create a painting, but to create something personal — something that reflects the spirit, story, personality, and memory of the individual (or cherished pet) being honored.

For years, this idea remained close to my heart, but I had never created the first piece. That changed when my best friend asked me to create angel wings using her father's ashes as a birthday gift for her. I poured myself into that first painting, working tirelessly to create something worthy of the memories she carried of her father.

Since then, I have had the privilege of creating commissioned memorial pieces for others, including artwork honoring beloved family members and cherished pets. Our “fur babies” become part of our families, and their loss can leave an enormous space in our hearts. Their ashes can also be incorporated into a meaningful piece created in their memory.

Angel Ash Wings was born from the belief that the remains of someone (or a beloved pet) we love can become part of something beautiful, visible, and deeply personal rather than remaining tucked away and unseen.

My mission is to create artwork that brings comfort, beauty, remembrance, and hope into your home — a piece that honors not simply a passing, but a life that mattered and a love that remains.

“Every set of wings tells a story. Every piece represents a life — and even from ashes, God can bring forth something beautiful.”

Art from healing, release & renewal

Not only memorial art.

I also create symbolic pieces for those who want to transform something painful into a visual representation of healing, freedom, strength, and new beginnings. You may write the words you've carried too long; the paper is then safely burned, and those ashes — yours, or your fur baby's — become part of your custom artwork.

Angel Wings

A reminder of faith, comfort, and God's presence.

A Butterfly

A symbol of transformation and new beginnings.

A Crown

A reminder of your identity, worth, and purpose.

A Sword

Courage, strength, and victory over your past.

Beloved Pet

A lasting tribute to the unconditional love of your fur baby.

What once represented pain can become part of something beautiful — a reminder not only of who you are, but Whose you are.

Kind words

Held with care, every time.

I cried when I opened it — in the best way. It's the first time since losing my mom that I've felt her close and calm.

Danielle R. — in loving memory of her mom

Mary treated our old boy like he mattered as much to her as he did to us. The wings hang above his bed. Thank you.

Rebecca M. — for her beloved companion

The whole process felt like being taken care of. Gentle emails, no pressure, and a piece more beautiful than I imagined.

Gentle answers

The questions grieving hearts ask most.

How much ash do you need?+
About a teaspoon is plenty. The rest always stays with you — you never send more than a small, symbolic portion.
Will my loved one's ashes be kept separate?+
Always. Mary works on one commission at a time at a clean, dedicated station, and any unused ashes are returned to you together with your finished painting.
Do you create pet memorials?+
Yes — pets are family. Dogs, cats, horses, and other beloved companions are all welcome, at any size.
How do I send the ashes safely?+
After your consultation, you'll receive simple step-by-step instructions. If you'd like, we can send a small keepsake vial to make it easy and secure.
How long does a commission take?+
Each wing is painted entirely by hand, so most pieces are ready in about 2–4 weeks. You'll have a clear timeline before we begin.
Do you ship, and is it insured?+
Yes. Every piece ships carefully packaged and fully insured across the United States. International inquiries are welcome by email.
